Indian School Students Took Part in Junior Track of BRICS International School: New Generation

On March 5, the junior track of the BRICS International School: New Generation was launched in Delhi. Sixty students from 15 Indian secondary schools took part in a special mentoring programme designed for younger participants, timed to coincide with India's BRICS Chairship in 2026. The program was organised by the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, HSE University, jointly with the Russian House in New Delhi, and with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The students, aged 15 to 17, engaged in interactive lectures, quizzes, presentations, intellectual games, and meetings with mentors—all graduates of the BRICS International School. Through these sessions, they learned about the history of BRICS, youth diplomacy projects under way in member countries, and opportunities for pursuing careers in international relations, studying in BRICS nations, and applying to HSE University.
Palakh Khanna, a 2025 graduate from India, led a quiz for the young participants, using an interactive format to introduce the main goals and objectives of BRICS—separating facts from myths. As she explained, the aim was to create a space where learning happens naturally: testing knowledge, understanding how BRICS countries interact, and discovering why international cooperation truly matters—all through open dialogue and shared experience.
Sherly Hephzibah, another 2025 graduate, facilitated a discussion on the development of education across the BRICS natios, while Archit Ojha, also a 2025 graduate, guided the students through an educational quest focused on BRICS topics.
Junior programme participants praised the mentors' creative approach to introducing them to BRICS topics, as well as the highly rewarding experience of taking part in an event that, for many, opened a window into the world of BRICS and new opportunities for developing their potential as young researchers. Anikha Vashisht, an 11th‑grade student at DPS Faridabad and a participant in the BRICS International School, shared her impressions of the educational sessions and interactive activities, describing the programme's dynamic learning environment. Reflecting on her experience, she noted:
"I found the session incredibly engaging and inspiring. We learned a lot about different countries, their education systems, and the history of BRICS, and the interactive quizzes added an exciting element of competition, making the learning process even more enjoyable."
This year, the BRICS International School: New Generation marks its tenth anniversary. Over the course of a decade, more than 1,000 young leaders aged 18 to 35 from over 60 nations have completed the programme. As part of the project's continued development, a dedicated international Junior Track was launched in 2026. This track is designed to introduce the younger generation to the BRICS agenda, raise awareness of current global development trends, and ensure continuity between generations of international affairs specialists. Graduates of the first junior programme in India will soon be eligible to participate in the main track of the BRICS International School: New Generation and join the ranks of young BRICSologists.
The BRICS International School: New Generation is the flagship educational and outreach initiative of the BRICS Expert Council‑Russia. Its goal is to cultivate a pool of talented young specialists from BRICS and partner countries—leaders of the new generation. The project has been implemented since 2017 with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
